Today we are going to talk about the latest news of New York Yankees. After opening the season with two mediocre starts and a pair of no-decisions, CC Sabathia had re-established himself as the ace the Yankees have come to expect. The left-hander’s five-game winning streak ended Tuesday, May 15, 2012, as the Orioles scored four runs on eight hits and four walks in Sabathia’s six innings, taking a 5-2 decision from the Yankees in Baltimore.
Two of the four walks issued by Sabathia came around to score, putting the Yankees in a 4-0 hole they would never overcome. “It was a battle,” Sabathia said. “I felt like I was grinding from the second inning on, just trying to go out and make pitches and try to minimize the damage.” Look the picture of Sabathia, he is smiling so happy with a black NY hat on his head. How handsome he is! Sabathia struggled with the command of his entire arsenal, though he pointed to the two-seamer as the primary culprit for his disappointing night.
“It was a little off,” Sabathia said. “I feel like I had a good one early, but it kind of went away from me.” Sabathia had pitched into the eighth inning in each of his previous five starts, including four straight in which he completed eight innings. “He just had a little trouble with his control with all his pitches,” catcher Chris Stewartsaid. “It just wasn’t there tonight, but he battled and gave us everything he had. He kept the game close for us, but we just couldn’t pull through.” The Yankees have become well known for a winning reputation on a global level. There are a lot of wholesale online shops in Chinese market, the main products of which are New York Yankees hats, shoes, T-shirt and so on. In 2007, they reached an agreement with the Chinese Baseball Association to allow coaches, scouts and trainers to work in China to promote baseball and judge talent. They are trying to do the same with the Yomiuri Giants and the Hanshin Tigers in Japan. The Yankees and Yomiuri Giants currently have a close relationship and share ideas and strategies. The Yomiuri Shimbun daily newspaper has an ad on the left-field wall at Yankee Stadium, and other Japanese ads appear on the scrolling backstop advertising board. The Yankees are hoping that close ties with countries such as China and Japan will give them personal, in depth judgments of baseball talent.
In 2008, the Yankees announced a joint venture with the Dallas Cowboys that would form the basis for a partnership in running food and beverage, and other catering services to both teams’ stadiums.
In 2011, Forbes magazine ranked New York Yankees as the third most valuable sports team in the world, behind Manchester United of the English Premier League and Dallas Cowboys, with a value of $1.7 billion.
